Brewster Opens Littlenecks Week as Saints Landing Harvest Closes
Brewster's Natural Resources Department kicked off Littlenecks Week at Ellis Landing this week even as it closed out the final quahog harvest of the season at Saints Landing, shifting the town's fall shellfishing activity to a new spot along the bay.
TOWN HALL
The Natural Resources Department announced Littlenecks Week at Ellis Landing, inviting residents to take part in the seasonal harvest there. The announcement came the same week the department closed the final Saints Landing quahog harvest of the fall, ending that site's run for the season, according to the town's News Flash. Officials did not specify a reopening date for Saints Landing.
Separately, the town's weekly hiring update lists new municipal job openings posted for the week of Sept. 14, part of Brewster's ongoing effort to fill town positions.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Friends of the Brewster Public Library are running a Fall Quilt Raffle, with the quilt on display in the library's lower-level hallway through the week. The quilt was donated by the Southeast Museum Quilters, and all proceeds go directly to benefit the library.
The library is also debuting a bilingual storytime this week. Nancy Hershatter, M.Ed., leads "Fall Into Stories," an English and Spanish morning of songs, stories and activities for toddlers, at the library's Community Room.
