Brewster School Committee votes to pursue MSBA funding for Stony Brook
School Committee · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Brewster School Committee moves toward seeking state aid for Stony Brook Elementary's aging roof and HVAC system. Members agreed to pursue a joint meeting with the Select Board on Sept. 28 to discuss a Massachusetts School Building Authority application, with Superintendent Glenn Brand warning "we're talking about a magnitude of dollars" and Vice Chair Marie Enochty pushing for input from neighboring elementary districts first. Assistant Superintendent of Finance Beth Regalbuto reported Brewster's two elementary schools closed fiscal 2026 with $43,203 in extraordinary relief and $89,226 in Title I funding, leaving roughly $92,000 available to prepay fiscal 2027 costs, approved unanimously.
Resident Cherie Wardell used public comment to press the committee on the lack of school resource officers at Nauset's elementary schools. The committee also unanimously appointed Gina Gonzalez as recording secretary.
