Brewster Zoning Board Grants Two Special Permits For Home Additions
Zoning Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Brewster Zoning Board approves two home-addition permits, sets summer construction limits. The board voted 5-0 to grant a special permit for a 448-square-foot two-story addition at 97 Spring Lane, conditioned on sign-off from the Old King's Highway Historic District Committee and a Conservation Commission order of conditions. A second 5-0 vote approved renovations at 23 Captain Dunbar Road, including chimney removal, after architect Paul Muldoon scaled back the project's added building coverage from 54 to 12 square feet in response to neighbor objections.
Abutter Nancy Muller-Baling asked, "Is it going to be open as they're chipping and there's going to be dust flying around the neighborhood?" The board barred exterior construction there between June 15 and September 15 to protect the rental season, and separately discussed training on a new state variance law unchanged since the 1920s.
